COVID-19 Updates

The security of guests is our primary concern and as such we have implemented a series of protocols and policies to ensure your stay is memorable and safe. Please review the information below and if you have any further questions please contact us.

Please note Keltic Quay has completed the ‘Clean It Right’ certification.

General Protocols:

  • Keltic Quay will follow all Nova Scotia public health directives to keep both staff and guests safe.
  • Guests and residents must adhere to physical distancing recommendations at all times.
  • Staff and guests are prohibited from using any physical greetings such as hugs or handshakes and are encouraged to find alternate methods such a hand waves or friendly smiles.
  • If a guest or staff member exhibits any symptoms or contracts COVID 19, all Nova Scotia Public Health Directives will be followed.
  • All staff will have access to personal protective equipment (PPE) where necessary.
  • Guests who are feeling healthy and well and who are not self-isolating are welcomed at Keltic Quay. We have flexibility in our cancellation policy if guests have to cancel due to illness.

Arrival Experience at Office:

  • Check in time is 4:00pm
  • Door handles and counters will be sanitized frequently throughout the day.
  • A clear plastic curtain will be in place at the counter between the guests and staff to assist with physical distancing.
  • Guests will be asked to answer and sign a screening questionnaire.
  • Guests will be asked to use hand sanitizer before and after processing payment and answering the screening questionnaire.
  • Staff will perform hand hygiene frequently and after each guest transaction.
  • Staff will be unable to assist guests with transporting any items into their cottage including guest bags.

Cottages:

  • All cottages have separate outside entrances that are a significant distance away from other entrances.
  • Increased cleaning and disinfecting protocols have been implemented to clean rooms after guests leave and before the next guests arrive. Extra attention is paid to the following high touch surfaces:
    • Light switches
    • Door, cabinet and appliance handles
    • Night stands and alarm clocks
    • Luggage racks
    • Bathroom toilets, bathroom & kitchen sinks and faucets, showers/tubs
    • Remote controls for tv and HVAC
    • Tables and chairs
  • Guest amenities will be limited and any that are not used will be removed and replaced after each guest stay. If guests need additional items during their stay, they can be requested at the office.
  • Coffee, tea and sugar have been removed from the cottages.
  • We are unable to provide laundry facilities for the cottages that do not have a washer/dryer in the units (this applies to all the one-bedroom upstairs cottages). The downstairs two bedroom cottages all have laundry facilities that guests in those units are welcome to use.
  • Guests are asked to leave all used towels and linens in their cottage. These will be picked up by housekeeping staff after your stay.
  • Guests are not able to have any external visitors come to their cottage for visits. The only people to be in the cottage are those that booked to stay on-site when the reservation was made.
  • Non-urgent maintenance issues will be halted until a room is no longer occupied and has been cleaned according to post occupancy standards. If an instance arises where maintenance must be performed immediately in an occupied room, safety protocols will be followed to have the work done in a safe manner.

Housekeeping:

  • We are unable to enter the cottages to deliver any extra supplies needed during your stay. If extra supplies are needed, please guests can email their requests to info@kelticquay.com or call 902-756-1122 and they will be delivered to the doorstep in a basket.  If you need laundry items removed this can also be requested and our staff will provide you with a basket or plastic bag to put it out on your doorstep for pickup.
  • Due to the additional cleaning measures, housekeeping may take longer than our traditional cleaning times but we will do everything we can to have the cottages ready for the normal 4:00pm check in time.
  • All dishes and items in the cottages will be left in a clean state but you can also wash any dishes you wish to use either in the kitchen sink (soap and dish towels are provided) or in the dishwasher prior to using.
  • Our staff will use gloves or any other required PPE to handle laundry and clean and sanitize the cottages.

Lodge:

  • The lodge is closed to guests temporarily and this policy will be re-evaluated when possible.

Outdoors and Grounds:

  • Canoes, Kayaks, Paddle boats and Paddle Boards as well as life jackets are available for guest use. We can provide supplies for you to clean and disinfect these items should you wish to use them.  As per our normal practice, you will need to sign a waiver for insurance purposes prior to using them.
  • Adirondack chairs and a fire pit are available outside of the lodge. Kindling, fire logs and newspapers will be provided as well as some disinfectant for using on the chairs.

Check Out Experience:

  • Check out time is 10:30am
  • Guests are asked to drop off their keys when leaving to a key drop box.
  • A copy of your receipt for your stay will be emailed to you on check out day. If you require a printed copy, it can be mailed to you or arrangements can be made for you to pick it up.
